FAQ

Common questions

Short answers about what the viewer shows and what stays private.

Is my drawing uploaded anywhere?

No. The viewer runs inside your browser, so the drawing is read and drawn on your own computer. Nothing is sent to a server.

Which DWG files open?

AutoCAD DWG files from R14 up to the 2018 format. Newer AutoCAD releases still save in the 2018 format, so their files open too.

Can I measure the drawing?

Yes. Click Measure, then two points: the cursor snaps to ends, middles, centres and crossings, and you get the distance in the drawing's units with ΔX, ΔY and the angle. Area measures a shape you click round. On a layout, lengths are millimetres on the paper.

Can I see the drawing in 3D?

Not yet. The viewer shows each drawing from above, the way a plan is drawn. 3D solids are not drawn yet, and the result says so when a drawing has them.

Can it open a DXF?

Not this page: the DXF viewer opens DXF files the same way.

What is not shown?

Construction lines, 3D solids, images and external references are left out for now. Tables show as the lines and text they are drawn with, and layouts show the paper at its real size.
